22 children & it feels like we've seen it all!
Yes, we do have 22 children in a merged blended family. Our marriage started with our oldest being 22 and our youngest being 2. Now after 13 years of marriage and 15 years working together, we have learned a lot from the experience of loving 22 children with 22 different personalities and 22 different feelings towards us while insanely loving each other despite our differences & challenges.
We have experienced and still experience almost all of the challenges of blending a family.
Our children are really good people but they have their challenges as we also still have our challenges. We have experienced children with:
- Alchohol addictions
- Jail time
- Renouncing our religious faith
- Suicide
- Lying about their step-parent
- Choosing the ex to live with full-time
- Lying about and being mean to step-siblings
- Teenage Infatuation
- Dishonest court proceedings
- Court & Legal manipulation
Most of what we have learned is from our experience, children's feedback, talking this out together, many prayers, and subtle answers from God. When people ask us how we're doing I usually say, "pick a feature", because we face different challenges with each child and their individual positions and circumstances in life. In other words, we have seen A LOT! We also understand the pain experienced by sacrificing your time, talents, and heart; then receiving hostility in return. We love our children and our grandchildren more than they comprehend but we're not perfect and neither are they(grandchildren sometimes seem close).
At Me You and 22 our coaching sessions are designed to help you blend your family and strengthen your marriage, in the middle of chaos, confusion, and often pain and hostility. We specialize in partnering with you to develop solutions for your specific relationships with your spouse/partner/fiancee, your children(biological, adopted, & step) and even improving co-parenting. After taking our courses, group coaching, and/or one on one coaching you can gain the tools and the perspective you need to find peace, happiness and connections while taking on some of the toughest challenges you can face.
